I write to you with news of transition at Rebound!
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that we have hired a talented new Executive Director, Lorenza Wilkins. Lorenza has a mind for finance and business and a passion for opportunity and equity.
Finance and Business: Lorenza earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science and Business Administration from Columbia Southern University and is finishing up a dissertation for a Doctor of Business Administration: Project-Based Research, also from Columbia Southern University. His entrepreneurial spirit is evident in his dissertation topic: Leveraging AI to Enhance Workforce Diversity. His academic preparation made him a great choice for Rebound.
Equity and Opportunity: Lorenza has been a part of the struggle for equity and opportunity for young people through his work with the Triangle Literacy Council, Made in Durham, and Compass Youth Centers. He is a leader who uses his energy to work for better outcomes for all students. His experience and passion made him a great choice for Rebound.
The board is excited about the opportunity to work with Lorenza, and we are eager to introduce Lorenza to our community of supporters. We had hoped that our community breakfast would provide the perfect opportunity for you to begin getting to know Lorenza. We are sorry that our breakfast has been postponed, but we hope that you will soon have other opportunities to meet and hear from Lorenza. In the short term, you might view out this video welcome message from Lorenza.
Amy Rublein, who has been our interim executive director through exciting and exhausting growth and changes, is helping to facilitate the transition. We are grateful for her continued energy and wisdom. We would not be here today, ready for Lorenza to lead us into the next chapter of our story, were it not for her dedication and tireless effort.
We know that this transition for Rebound comes at a time when so many of us are facing challenges during the COVID-19 crisis. We wish you and yours health and well-being. We are concerned for all of our students, and especially those who could use the encouragement and structure that Rebound provides. We have work to do while we wait for schools to reopen so that we will be in the best position to serve the students who need our care.
We invite you to donate to Rebound today, walking with us as we welcome Lorenza and plan for the future. There will be much mending to do among the students whom we serve.
We wish you peace,
Mary Elizabeth Hanchey, Board President
