October 2, 2014 – ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear Rebound friends, supporters and partners,
After a period of restructuring, Pam Gray is assuming the role as executive director of Rebound, Alternatives for Youth. Lizzie Ellis-Furlong is resigning her post as codirector and becoming the new executive director of the Durham Literacy Center on October 21st. Pam and Lizzie have worked diligently to launch Rebound in a close partnership. Lizzie will join the board of directors of Rebound and continue in a leadership role with the agency.
After our successful pilot in the spring, and now fully operational since the beginning of September, we are confident that Rebound is providing a valuable service to youth, their parents, the schools and the the community of Durham. In the past month we have been extremely busy working with youth from all over Durham while they are out of school on short-term suspension. We value your ongoing support and partnership as this program grows and develops to fill this gap in service.
A note from Lizzie: “Rebound has been a labor of love for me and it has been extremely rewarding to watch the program grow since 2012, when it was housed at Reality Ministries, into a healthy 501c3 non-profit organization. I will miss working directly with the youth in the program the most, but I know that the agency is now in a position of strength. I feel very fortunate to have had a stellar partner such as Pam Gray and feel strongly that Rebound is in capable hands. I am grateful for the rich experiences I had while launching and codirecting the agency. It is rewarding to know that Rebound is there for Durham youth when they need it and I look forward to continuing to increase the capacity as a new member of the board.”
Thank you for the privilege to serve.
Pam and Lizzie
